Marc SCOFFONI   -   Baritone

Marc Scoffoni graduated from the National Conservatory in Paris and the Guildhall School of Music in London. He was awarded by the ADAMI as the 2005 up-and-coming lyric artist. He took part in the Academy of the Aix-en-Provence Festival where he sang the role of Aeneas from Dido and Aeneas. Between 2011 and 2013, he was a member of the « Young Ensemble » at the Grand-Théâtre in Geneva.


On stage, he sang such roles as Papageno from Die Zauberflöte, Masetto and Don Giovanni, Nardo from La Finta Giardiniera, Figaro from Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Raimbaud from Le Comte Ory, Malatesta from Don Pasquale, Dandini from La Cenerentola, Gasparo from Rita by Donizetti, Germont from La Traviata, Fléville and Fouquier-Tinville from Andrea Chénier, Michonnet from Adriana Lecouvreur, Alfio from Cavalleria Rusticana, Sharpless from Madama Butterfly, Rambaldo from La Rondine.


In the French repertoire, he performed as Escamillo from Carmen, Frédéric from Lakmé, Valentin from Faust by Gounod, Schlémil and Hermann from Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Brétigny from Manon, le Chevalier Des Grieux from Le Portrait de Manon, Mercutio from Roméo et Juliette, l’Officier from Dialogues des Carmélites, the Clock and the Cat from L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, Jahel from Le Roi d’Ys, Clavaroche from Fortunio, Sganarelle from Le Médecin Malgré Lui, Pausanias from Une Education Manquée, Roger from CibouletteRobert from La Fille du Tambour Major, Jupiter from Orphée aux Enfers, Gaspard from Das Land des Lächelns (French version), Le Vice-Roi from La Périchole.


Also interested in the music from the 20th century, he sang the role of Bottom from A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Britten, Salvatore from The Saint of Bleecker Street by Menotti, l’Homme au Casque and le Marchand de Souvenirs from Juliette ou la clé des songes by Martinu, Octave from Les Caprices de Marianne by Henri Sauguet in a touring production in France, Tistou les pouces verts by Henri Sauguet and took part in the world premiere of Fénelon’s opera Jean-Jacques Rousseau.


He was also heard in the roles of the Hunter from Rusalka and Starek from Jenufa.

In the past recent seasons, he sang in La Traviata at the Capitole in Toulouse (Douphol), at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris and in Bremen (Grenvil), Cosí fan Tutte in Saint-Etienne (Guglielmo), Andrea Chénier at the Opéra de Tours (Roucher) and Manon at the Zürich Opera (Brétigny).

In the concert field, he regularly sings Brahms’ Requiem and Fauré’s Requiem. He was heard with the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris at the Paris Philharmonie, the Orchestre du Capitole at the Halle aux Grains in Toulouse, he sang Carmina Burana in Lausanne, extracts from Il Barbiere di Siviglia in concert at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. He sang Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the UNESCO Orchestra and gave many recitals.


During season 2019-2020, he sings Guglielmo from Cosí fan lutte in Tours, Marcello from La Bohème with the company 'Figaro si Figaro là", Papageno from Die Zauberflöte in Avignon, and also in an abridged version in Angers and Nantes. He will be Pâris from Roméo et Juliette in Montpellier and will sing Sharpless from Madama Butterfly in Angers, Nantes and Rennes. Concert-wise, he will appear in a series with "Les Voix Nouvelles", he will tour the operas in Angers, Nantes and Rennes for their series "Ça va mieux en le chantant", he will sing the New Year's concert in Saint-Etienne where he will be back at the end of the season to sing Brahm's Deutsches Requiem.
