Marc SCOFFONI   -   Baritone

Marc Scoffoni graduated from the National Conservatory in Paris and the Guildhall School of Music in London. He was awarded by the ADAMI as the 2005 up-and-coming lyric artist. He took part in the Academy of the Aix-en-Provence Festival. Between 2011 and 2013, he was a member of the « Young Ensemble » at the Grand-Théâtre in Geneva.

 

On stage, he sang such roles as Papageno from Die Zauberflöte, Guglielmo from Cosí fan tutte, Masetto and Don Giovanni, Nardo from La Finta Giardiniera, Figaro from Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Raimbaud from Le Comte Ory, Malatesta from Don Pasquale, Dandini from La Cenerentola, Gasparo from Rita by Donizetti, Germont from La Traviata, Fléville, Fouquier-Tinville and Roucher from Andrea Chénier, Michonnet from Adriana Lecouvreur, Alfio from Cavalleria Rusticana, Sharpless from Madama Butterfly, Rambaldo from La Rondine, Alessio from La Sonnambula.

 

In the French repertoire, he performed as Escamillo from Carmen, Frédéric from Lakmé, Valentin from Faust by Gounod, Albert and Le Bailli from Werther, Schlémil and Hermann from Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Brétigny from Manon, Le Chevalier Des Grieux from Le Portrait de Manon, Mercutio from Roméo et Juliette, l’Officier from Dialogues des Carmélites, the Clock and the Cat from L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, Jahel from Le Roi d’Ys, Clavaroche from Fortunio, Sganarelle from Le Médecin Malgré Lui, Pausanias from Une Education Manquée, Roger from CibouletteRobert from La Fille du Tambour Major, Jupiter from Orphée aux Enfers, Gaspard from Das Land des Lächelns (French version), Le Vice-Roi from La Périchole, Gaveston from La Dame Blanche.

 

He was also heard in the roles of the Hunter and The Gamekeeper from Rusalka and Starek from Jenufa.

Also interested in the music from the 20th century, he sang the role of Bottom from A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Britten, Salvatore from The Saint of Bleecker Street by Menotti, l’Homme au Casque and le Marchand de Souvenirs from Juliette ou la clé des songes by Martinu, Octave from Les Caprices de Marianne by Henri Sauguet in a touring production in France, Tistou les pouces verts by Henri Sauguet and took part in the world premiere of Fénelon’s opera Jean-Jacques Rousseau.

In the concert field, he regularly sings in the series "Ça va mieux en le chantant" in the operas in Angers, Nantes and Rennes. He was heard with the Orchestre National d'Île-de-France, the Paris Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Capitole in Toulouse, Saint-Etienne, Marseille, the UNESCO Orchestra, The Orchestra of Brittany... in a repertoire such as the Fauré Requiem, Brahms' Deutsches Requiem, the Carmina Burana, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, The Silence of the Sea by Tomasi, The Scottish, Irish and Welsh songs by Beethoven, La Vierge by Massenet.

 

During season 2022-2023, he takes part in two creations: L'Annonce faite à Marie by Philippe Leroux in Angers, Nantes and Rennes (role of Anne Vercors) and Les Rêveurs de la Lune by Howard Moody in Strasbourg (role of the Hoopoe). He sings Colas from Bastien et Bastienne together with the role of Uberto from La Serva Padrona in Versailles, Papageno from Die Zauberflöte in Versailles, Belcore from L'Elisir d'Amore in Angers, Nantes and Rennes.
